What can I do with a degree in Human Development?

Plenty! Human Development majors learn the interdisciplinary approach to study and promote the development of human beings from conception and birth through childhood, adulthood, aging and death. Howard University faculty ensure students are culturally responsive to social justice issues by teaching them to examine how people and communities can be empowered in diverse and marginalized settings.

My experience in the Human Development Program at Howard University was pivotal in both my personal and professional trajectory. Personally, the program’s focus on centering students of color, helped me understand the significance of my role as a Black Woman in education. Professionally, I was encouraged and nurtured to explore pathways that I never thought were possible for someone like me. Ultimately, this program provided the foundation for me to earn an PhD and join the professoriate.
