CETLA AI Faculty Scholar Community

Our Goals

Welcome to CETLA’s AI Faculty Scholar Community Resource Page. We want this page to be a useful resource and entry to a community for teaching faculty, instructors, and teaching assistants who are seeking to learn more about A.I., how to use it in the classroom, and how to use it appropriately and responsibly to enhance learning. The goals of CETLA’s AI Faculty Scholar Community are:

  • Educate educators: Workshops and resources will be offered to support faculty and instructional staff with learning more about AI, how it can be utilized to expand learning facilitation strategies to create more inclusive learning, potential applications in the curriculum and classroom, potential challenges and strategies for mitigating those challenges for responsible integration practices
  • Promote best practices: Ethical and effective use of AI in teaching and learning will be promoted with a focus on techniques and approaches that maximize the use of AI while also considering issues like bias, privacy, protecting intellectual property, and fostering faculty and student agency
  • Facilitate communication: We will provide virtual spaces for knowledge sharing between faculty and instructional staff, and when possible, AI developers and delivery entities
  • Provide up-to-date information: Continuously learn about the latest advancements in AI for education and keep faculty informed.
  • Build learning community: Foster a network of Howard University educators who are exploring AI in their classrooms, facilitating knowledge sharing and collaboration.

We encourage you to explore the various areas highlighted on this page and join our virtual AI Faculty Scholar Community on Canvas and Discord.

We also invite questions, suggestions, and feedback so that we can continue to tailor this webpage and our resources to your needs.
